Our Director of Family Ministries, Alex Parker and his wife Kelsey arrived at Concordia in September. Alex is a recent graduate of Concordia University, Portland.
At Concordia, we believe that ministry at it’s core is relational, so Alex has made it a priority in his first year at Concordia to get to know the people of Concordia, especially the children, youth, and families that are his primary area of responsibility.
In coordination with our pastor, Alex develops Concordia’s weekly family worship service. He also writes the lessons for all age groups in Concordia’s family growth groups. Under his leadership, family growth groups have grown to the point where more than half of Concordia’s growth group participants are from family growth groups.
This year, Alex has begun to re-work and re-write the confirmation curriculum in order to bring parents and youth together for confirmation instruction. He assists with preschool and after-school chapels, and has written the religion curriculum for our elementary school age summer camp.
This past March, Alex was a co-leader of Concordia’s family mission trip to Guatemala, as well as assisting with our special Easter outreach efforts.
We are delighted that Alex heard God’s voice in Concordia’s call, and are excited about the gifts, talents, skills, and youthful energy that he and his wife Kelsey bring to Concordia.
